PROGRAMS: GUIDE RIGHT & SOCIAL ACTION

Guide Right - Jerry Cade, Chairman

Kappa Alpha Psi’s Guide Right national service program began under the guidance of Brother Leon W. Steward, a YMCA secretary, of the St. Louis Alumni Chapter. Brothers Steward and J. Jerome Peters studied the problem of continual need of financial assistance and guidance of active undergraduate chapters. Brother Stewards proposed solution was a program, designated Guide Right, of guidance that assisted high school seniors in the choice and pursuit of useful careers consistent with the Fraternity purpose. This program was immediately adopted at the local level to the extent of providing scholarship to needy and talented participants. The 12th Grand Chapter adopted Guide Right as the national service program of the Fraternity.
